Lesson Plan
5B) understands principles and techniques, along with advantages and limitations, associated with a wide range of evidence-based instructional practices;
5C) knows how to implement effective differentiated instruction through the use of a wide variety of materials, technologies, and resources; 5D) understands disciplinary and interdisciplinary instructional approaches and how they relate to life and career experiences; To demonstrate the skills we learned in Art 212: Teaching in the Digital Studio, we created a lesson plan that included technology as a medium rather than traditional art. The central focus of this unit is combination, seeing how unlikely sources and mediums can come together to make a unified work. Making their similarities more present than their differences. The students would start by making a digital collage on photoshop using two unrelated photos and combining them together to create meaning. I used artist Stephen McMennamy to demonstrate this type of collage. The students would then put the photo into Procreate and create a digital scratchboard using layers. this is a nice introduction into the properties and benefits of digital art. I am a traditional artist so this was great opportunity for me to get out of my comfort zone and use new tools. Lesson Plan Stephen McMennamy Handout |

The final project in this course was a digital portfolio made with Adobe InDesign. The purpose of this assignment was to have us reflect on the work we had created throughout the semester. I enjoyed being able to reflect on the new skills I had learned and how I might take them with me as an educator. It also gave us the opportunity to use another new software. I had never heard of InDesign but can now see how effective it can be for something like a portfolio.
